Our Vision.

Evangelism.

Evangelize the community and world by proclaiming the Gospel message of hope. We intend to be a church which effectively goes in the spirit of the great commission. We intend to actively go into our community of Fairfax County, the Washington D.C. area, the states of Virginia and Maryland, and share the gospel message of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We intend to demonstrate the life-changing joy of salvation as we share the Gospel. We intend to effectively communicate that sinners are saved by God’s grace alone.

Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8

Fellowship.

Fellowship among believers which encourages each other and demonstrates our love for God. We intend to be a family, a mature family of God which cares for and loves each other. We intend to assimilate our community into this family as the Lord calls his children into his family -our neighbors will feel genuinely welcome and will experience the warmth of our love. We expect this fellowship to be representative of our community’s rich and diverse international demographics. We intend to be a congregation where friendships are encouraged and nurtured. Through fellowship, we intend to celebrate God’s goodness as a congregation and celebrate his goodness with other congregations in an ecumenical spirit of praise.

Ephesians 2:19

The aim of NOVA PBC is to humble itself to the leadership of our Lord Jesus Christ and God’s Holy Word, and joyfully fulfill our mission consistent with the following vision:

Worship.

Worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. We intend to be a congregation which worships the Triune God according to God’s Holy word. We will be a praying congregation, realizing that it is only through God’s Holy Spirit that we are enabled to worship. We intend to have a participatory worship style, which involves the people of our congregation, is relevant to their lives, and is understandable. We intend there to be a spirit of celebration, which truly reflects God’s great goodness to us through the work of Christ on the cross. We intend to be a people who live with unconditional trust in God.

Matthew 4:10, Psalm 34:3

Service.

Serve our Lord, each other, and our community with the zeal of committed lives. We intend to be a caring church - care for both those in the congregation and those in our community. We intend to be the Lord’s vehicle to bring healing to hurting lives. We intend to minister to our community in a fashion, which is not only generous but also helpful. We intend to demonstrate that love is truly an action word. We intend that each individual in this body of believers will serve obediently and joyfully as they minister according to their gifts, callings, and vocations.

Matthew 9:35-36, Matthew 22:39

Discipleship.

Disciple believers according to God’s word. We intend to teach the word of God so completely that believers will know how to serve, worship, fellowship, and reach out effectively and with great joy and fulfillment. We intend to teach in a manner which equips and activates. We intend that each person in this church will be directed up a path of continual growth in God’s grace and understanding. We intend to clearly show the relevance of God’s word to all areas of lift and teach others to do the same. We intend to be bold in teaching and standing for Biblical truth, as summarized in our articles of faith. We intend to live by the word of God in unconditional obedience.

Colossians 1:28
